Blog Schedule and TechMark

Today was the last day of our team-based business management simulation, entitled “TechMark”.  If you’d like to read more about my experience, I write about it in more detail after the jump.

My week aside, I’m going to be making an effort to add posts for art business on a weekly or biweekly basis as the semester gets underway, as I know my time will be limited.  If you have specific questions, please let me know and I’ll work them into a post.  Coming up… tax reporting for the freelancer on your Schedule C.

New Logo!

Today I added a fantastically designed and snazzy logo… or banner or header?  Whatever you want to call it.

I commissioned artist Lee Smith to do the logo, who nailed it on the first try.  I found Lee from his logo design submission for ArtOrder.  I LOVED Lee’s submissions, and knew he was the right artist for the job.

Beyond the awesome job he did on my logo, Lee is a fantastic illustrator/concept artist working in the scifi/fantasy genres.  Check out his stuff at shawawa.com!

Getting this show on the road…

Time for me to have a website, I thought to myself earlier today.

Setting it up was, surprisingly, the easy part.  More difficult was finding a theme that fit the professionalism and functionality that I wanted and still was interesting and “mine”.  I would’ve preferred if there was a theme or two that looked professional and also I felt like was more my own animal, but I guess I’ll have to learn to graphically design for that to happen.

Working nonstop, as well as helping out with some projects for some friends.  Once it’s all up and running, expect a longer list on the blogroll.
